Born in Biella, Italy, Francesco Beccaro picked up the bass at age 12 and started working professionally at the age of 16. While in Italy he performed at many jazz festivals, including Strade del Cinema, Impressioni, Jazz Au Leu, I-Tim Tour. In September 2007, at the age of 21, Francesco moved to New York to study at The Collective School of Music.
Soon after he moved to New York City, Francesco started playing and recording with many musicians, including Sheryl Bailey, Savion Glover, Marva Withney, John Riley, Memo Acevedo, Liberty Devitto, Trent Armand Kendall, Terry Silverlight, Steven Elliott, Joe Clausell, K Drew, Jordan Perlson, and Brian Wolfe to name a few.
Francesco is a member of the Café Wha? House Band, where he performs every week. He is also part of “Flamenkina”, an emerging flamenco-jazz trio.
In July 2010 Francesco performed and taught at the Kosa International Workshop in Castleton, VT
In February 2011 he toured all over the US and Canada with the last production of Savion Glover “Solo In Time”.
Francesco also had the honor to appear and to be featured on the Instructional DVD “Groove Workshop” Bass virtuoso Victor Wooten.
As a composer, Francesco has composed pieces for short movies, theater shows, and original projects.
