The Collective School of Music is proud to announce Drummers Collective student, Juan Felipe Calderón, as a recipient of the 2015 Armand Zildjian Merit Scholarship for his hard work and to help continue his studies. “Thank you Zildjian for supporting music students from around the world,” states Juan. “It is an honor to receive this scholarship from The Collective and the Zildjian family, truly the best in the business! I will continue to work hard studying at The Collective and make all of you proud!” Originally residing in Manizales, Colombia, Juan started playing the drums at the age of 12 and moved to Bogotá at the age of 17 where he studied Drums and Sound Engineering at Pontifical Xaverian University. Zildjian’s contribution along with The Collective matching the amount will help Juan pay his tuition and continue on his path as a 2-year Collective Diploma
student.

The Collective and The Zildjian Company have had a long lasting and strong relationship dating back to 1977 when Drummers Collective first began on 42nd street. “The people at The Zildjian Cymbal Company are a class act,” states Director Anthony Citrinite. “We thank them for their generosity and support throughout the years, and we look forward to continue spreading the wealth to tomorrows drum professionals for many more years.”
