Making music comes naturally to Felix Pastorius. Music is a family tradition: Felix’s grandfather, John Francis Pastorius II, affectionately referred to as “Jack,” was a stand-up jazz drummer, who sang while he swang. Following in his footsteps, one of Jack’s three sons, and Felix’s dad, John Francis Pastorius III, affectionately referred to as “Jaco,” took up the drums and later switched to bass.
Young Felix spent most his life in Florida, living in a house full of instruments. While studying them all, he landed on the bass…or maybe it landed on him. He’s earned his place, learned to navigate, and he’s here to take you for a ride.
He’s played with Robert Thomas Jr., Victor Wooten, Jeff Coffin, Cindy Blackman-Santana, and Bobby McFerrin. Aside from Social Experiment, Felix currently tours with Jeff Coffin’s The Mu’tet, and since 2012 the Yellowjackets.
