The Pittsburgh-born percussionist and band-leader Watts is most famous for his work with Jazz legends such as composer/trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and pianist Alice Coltrane, but has had a celebrated career spanning four decades of accompaniment and solo work! His mastery of complex rhythms is unparalleled. With dozens of acclaimed albums under his belt, years of working on television for The Tonight Show, and even as an actor, playing Rhythm Jones in the Spike Lee film “Mo Better Blues”, The Collective is extremely excited and proud to present Watts as our guest to share his experience with you.
Thanks to the Collective’s new online remote learning initiatives, newcomers and alumni from around the world have been able to reconnect with The Collective on a daily basis, and bring our famous New York campus straight into their living rooms in real-time. Albeit by taking online private lessons with some of the incredible faculty or tuning into one of our free “Live @ 5” hour-long clinics with a featured faculty member, musicians are able to continue to pursue their goals and share amazing experiences together online through The Collective!
Now, The Collective is excited to bring you a 2-hour course curated by Watts and co-hosted by Juno-Winning Jazz Drummer and Collective Faculty member Ian Froman, where he will be performing/discussing Polyrhythms, Jazz, and World Music! Mr.Watts will be taking a live Q&A session from the Live-Stream Chat as well! Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity, and be sure to keep updated on all Collective news and content by following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@thecollectivenyc).
