The Collective School of Music is excited to announce the Péter Szendőfi Tribute to Kim Plainfield on April 18th at 6:00 pm! Kim Plainfield was a much loved and highly influential leader in The Collective community teaching private lessons and developing our most advanced curriculums. You can attend this special tribute Collective Masters Live event in person at 28 Broadway, NYC or via the live stream.
In his Collective Master’s Live, Szendőfi will share some of the most impactful lessons he learned from studying with Kim Plainfield while at The Collective. He’ll give special attention to Plainfield’s book Advanced Concepts: A Comprehensive Method for Developing Technique, Contemporary Styles, and Rhythmical Concepts. Szendőfi will also share special tips from Plainfield on combining Plainfield’s ideas with those in Gary Chester’s popular book, The New Breed Systems for the Development of Your Own Creativity. Additionally, this special Collective Masters Live will include stories about The Collective from the 90s, memories of Kim, and performances of Szendőfi’s original music.
Szendőfi is a graduate of The Collective and one of the busiest drummers in Hungary, recording on over 150 albums and performing around the globe in his own bands and as a drummer for hire. His own projects Fusio Group and Loop Doctors, push the boundaries of high-energy jazz fusion. He’s shared album liner notes and stages with James Morrison, Will Lee, George Whitty, Oz Noy, Jojo Mayer, and many more award-winning international touring artists. While studying at The Collective, Szendőfi studied with the best of the best: Kim Plainfield, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Zach Danziger, and Freddie Gruber.
