October 22, 2020, You’re invited to join The Collective LIVE at 5pm EST as we proudly present a FREE hour-long online clinic via Zoom on creating the sounds and styles of Afro Jazz on a drum kit from 5 Time Grammy Award-Winning Drummer and Collective Faculty member: Vince Cherico!
Cherico is a celebrated world and latin music percussionist, who has played with legendary groups for over 3 decades. Ray Baretto, Dave Samuels, and most famously Arturo O’Farril &The Latin Jazz Orchestra (With whom he took home Grammys for the 2009 album, Song For Chico and 2016’s Cuba: The Conversation Continues) are just a select few of the major players in the World Music scene that Vince has played alongside. Vince has performed at some of the top venues and festivals on the planet, including several prolific performances at Carnegie Hall and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Vince also holds a residency at New York’s Birdland Jazz Club and Symphony Space, is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, and of course a celebrated full-time faculty member at The Collective!

Now, The Collective is able to bring you an hour-long course curated by Cherico and hosted by Chris Bottone, where he will be focusing on taking the percussion traditionally found in Afro-Jazz and Latin styles, and translating their rhythmic patterns and sounds into a contemporary drum kit! Cherico will perform, and even take a live Q&A session from the Live-Stream Chat!
